What John Assaraf says about Beliefs

I got a note from John Assaraf on our beliefs a few days ago which I share with you here. He urges us to write our way to New Beliefs. Here I quote him verbatim…

“It’s a New Year and time to create new beliefs. A long time a go, I learned to use writing as a powerful too for change. That one belief for me was that I wasn’t smart enough. The beliefs I wanted to adopt were these:

  • I am a very intelligent person.
  • My ability to learn and grow is excellent.
  • I have all the tools I need to get anything done effectively and efficiently.

I wrote those beliefs repeatedly, perhaps 20 times a day for about two weeks, and reread what I’d written several times a day. This writing is an instruction to the subconscious. It’s not that you are trying to convince your conscious mind; instead, you are simply sending new information to the subconscious. Using repetition and the emotional conviction, you can impress new beliefs onto your subconscious. Behavior and attraction then occur automatically.

Write Out Your New Beliefs

You can write yourself a new script, detailing all of your new beliefs, from health to wealth, from business success to charitable contribution, from relationships to spirituality, from productivity to creativity. To write the script, imagine what you life will be like as a result of adopting a new belief, and describe it all in the present tense. Describe everything as if it is already happening. For example, a script for your health might start like this:

  • I love how it feels to run because my body is in such great condition.
  • I can feel my heart working, and my breath is strong and even.
  • My quadriceps and calves are strong.
  • I am a healthy, vibrant person who respects the body as the amazing vessel it is: home to my soul.
  • I am in the zone and running better than I ever have before.
  • I am getting faster and stronger every day…

Add Visualization to Your New Beliefs

Close your eyes and picture everything happening exactly as you described it in your script. Create a movie in your mind that you can play over and over. Visualization is simply the creation of a new idea or belief, where you paint a new scenario, adding color and imagining sound, smell and so on. An entrepreneur may see a bustling office, the enthusiastic staff, envelops being opened with checks for large amounts of money or the product going out to clients in flawless fashion.

Add Advanced Techniques

You can add some more advanced techniques by visualizing the old behavior or belief then mentally covering it with the new. Author and personal development expert Tony Robbins calls this a “swoosh” pattern. You say to yourself, “Swoosh!” as you mentally use the new pattern to whisk away the old one.

Focus on one or two major beliefs at a time and really work on those until you feel they are ingrained. If you choose just two every month or so, in a year you will have installed up to 24 new beliefs! That’s Life Changing!”

What path to Success? Business or Spirituality?

Any self-help book will promise you great success if you work on your self. Personal development is the key it seems. But there are two main paths of personal development. One is business and the other is spiritual. Are they in conflict with each other? Watch this video…

The answer is easy to visualize if you look at yourself as a bird. To fly you need two wings. One is material and the other is spiritual. You need both in balance.

How does one balance these two seemingly diametrically opposite ends of a personal goal spectrum? That is achieved by standing at the point of convergence. And that point is by operating from a mentality of abundance.

What does abundance have to do with either you say? Great! Abundance in business means preparing a mindset to work with lots of people for lots of activity. Oil companies, telecom companies, retail chain do this all the time. And the larger they get, the more the abundance manifests. But it starts with an initial visualization… that Sam Walton or Bill Gates or Thomas Edison had.

At the other end is spirituality which always builds people up to the point of merging with the divine energy. The oneness of the individual spirit with that of universal consciousness. This is basically seeking to tell spiritual practitioners that abundance is all around and all you need do is tune your mind to be one with it.

Now neither approaches asks you to bet on horses or rob a bank. Both approaches ask you to focus on the larger, abundant picture. And that is my submission about the purpose of personal development. Work it in the direction of abundance – using either or both routes – and success is bound to be yours.

Rise Above The Rat Race: A Review

You are lucky to be reading this page today. Because you get a sneak peek into a book that is about to be released by Sue Debrule… a book that can give you the fillip you need to really rise above the rat race – with directions and case studies!

I got an advance copy because she was kind enough to feature me as a case study. But that will not bias my review. What might bias it is the fact that there is nothing in the book one can look upon negatively. That is just how Sue is built. Extremely positive. So much so, she has used her positive mental energy to cure herself of cancer. And she has distinguished herself as an internet marketer of excellent standing despite her age (her daughters are in their thirties), qualification (kindergarten teacher), health and adverse financial conditions.

rise above the rat raceBack to the book, Sue Debrule starts out with an enticing title… who doesn’t want to ‘rise above the rat race’ after all? And unlike you’d expect, she deals with the subject from the inside out. Consequently there is no preachiness. Instead the book has you introspect and answer to yourself honestly, questions like “What are your personal values”, “Why should you identify your values” and “How do you identify your values?”

I really love the way everything in the book follows a “Why” and a “How” pattern. Makes it really stick. Moving further the book talks about purpose and attitude so that one can put oneself right there in the driver’s seat while on this journey to ‘rise’. And having aligned your feelings with your future, the book starts tackling beliefs.

From there on, it moves into the realm of abundance, touching upon key aspects of luck, money (or the lack of it) and work. Joining the dots, it naturally connects the reader with the world of business and ‘home business’ of which Sue is the ‘Guru’. The book spends good ink on how to evaluate opportunities and get trained. Very clean and impartial. It also furnishes examples of budgeting, debt recovery and credit repair, making the ‘rise’ easy for anyone in any current condition.

As a topping on a delicious pie, Sue’s book presents the 7 Universal Laws of Success that anyone wanting more out of life must align with. Added to it are a couple of chapters on speed and balance. I consider these very thoughtful additions that ensure completeness.

Having read a plethora of self-help books, I can see how ‘Rise Above The Rat Race’ will save the reader a huge lot of time. How? It is the nectar of the humongous thinking of Napoleon Hill and Tony Robbins extracted and poured into practical, applicable diktats of Bob Proctor and Joe Vitale. That is peppered with personal experiences of live ordinary unknown mortals (like Sue and myself among others)… and this lends credibility and belief. Each reference can be contacted directly as Sue has been generous with websites and numbers. And the writing style is so smooth, you’d breeze through its 156-pages unstoppably! Rise above the rat race!

Do you have a private bank of wealth advisors?

Jeffery Combs, one of the large clutch of associates of Wealth Masters, speaks to build wealth and wisdom through a higher self esteem. A low self esteem is the beginning of sabotage and why do we have it?

Events from the past create feelings; feelings create moods; and moods create identities. We resist change because it challenges our identity as it sets off the right side of our brain to think of what can be, and is pulled back by the left which magnifies what is. This causes resistance and that’s sabotaging.

But there is more to it. And that’s out reticular activation system. It actually decides what we get. For instance when we are about to get married, all around us we see bridal dresses, happy couples and wedding paraphernalia which our activators get extra sensitive to.

Similarly, Jeff says the activators work at all times. Like a search engine for whatever is familiar to us. If we are familiar with struggle, how would the reticular activators present examples of success? Non-deservability sets in and we don’t get what we want.

So what’s the solution? Be gentle on expectation. Change requires time so lower the expectation and heighten the habits and skills. Set times for clearly defined goals that are a week; a month; and 90 days away. Develop a 90-day game plan. And have a daily method of operation. Objectively. So you do not procrastinate. Self esteem is improved by making and keeping small commitments to oneself.

Finally he adds, love thyself. Use the words ‘deserve’ and ‘receive’ frequently. I deserve to receive $1000 this week. Believe that you are enough and wash off your dependencies on others for your success. And it shall be yours!

MLM Successes – did you know…?

I came across a document today that revealed the following MLM successes I hadn’t known about. Interesting…

You may have heard of Bill Britt, one of the most successful distributors in Amway. Some years ago, 20/20 did a feature story on Amway. The story spent 19 minutes interviewing whiners and complainers – distributors who had failed. They showed garages full of products they couldn’t sell. During the last minute of the show, Mr. Britt was interviewed infront of his palatial home. He was asked, “Mr. Britt, this business has obviously worked for you. What’s your secret?” He replied, “There is no secret. I simply showed the plan to 1200 people. 900 said, ‘No’ and only 300 signed up. Out of those 300, only 85 did anything at all. Out of those 85 only 35 were serious, and out of those 35, 11 made me a millionaire.”

Jason Boreyko, co-founder of New Vision, told this story. When he was a distributor in Matol, he signed up 50 people. He heard a lot of “No’s” on the way to those 50. Jason took one man, who he knew would be terrific in the business, to lunch and told him about the business. The man said “No”. Jason took the man to lunch again the next month and gave him some updates. Once again the man said, “No”. Jason sent him some more information and took him to lunch again the next month. Again the man said, “No”. That went on for six months. The seventh month, something had changed for the man, and he said, “Yes”. That man made Jason over one million dollars. Jason also worked through his numbers.

While starting Amway, Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel, America’s eleventh richest entity, recruited 500 people. 495 dropped out. The five that didn’t quit, built Amway. All $7 billion of Amway’s business was built under those 5 people. Jay and Rich had to work through the numbers.

There are many similar stories.

Jeff, the top money earner in Mannatech, signed up 27 people his first month. One might think that he is especially talented at sponsoring. Actually, Jeff will be the first to tell you that he is not talented at all. In fact, he feels that he did very poorly. To recruit those 27, Jeff talked to 2000 people that first month. And of the 27, the only one who did anything significant with the business was Ray Gebauer, who has more than half of Mannatech in his downline. Jeff’s word to you is this: The numbers never lie. Pick your goal and then get into massive action. If you talk to enough people, you will make it!

Here’s the lesson: Your success is directly related to the degree to which you are willing to work to find others like yourself who are committed to succeed. Jeff’s odds were really 1 in 2000. Would you be willing to go through 200 people to find the 1 who will make you $50,000 a month? Or go through 200 people to become a millionaire? Or hear “No” uncounted times to sign up 50 people and find that million dollar person? I hope you will. It’s easier when you know the odds up front.

But here’s the catch: You have your own set of odds – and you won’t know what they are until AFTER YOU’VE SUCCEEDED. So if you’ve gone through 50 or 100 people and you haven’t found 1 serious person yet, you can either give up and assume the business doesn’t work, or recognize that you are working through your own numbers.

Are you willing to find out what your own set of odds is?

This means that you must pay the price for freedom. Remember that the numbers never fail you. Despite where your skill level is, your success is assured if you talk to enough people. And as your skill improves, so will your odds.

There is no such thing as luck in this industry. Winning big is a matter of being willing to pay the price. Are you willing? Your future is in your hands! The choices which you make today will determine the course of your entire future. Start designing it now…

“Paradigms” By Bob Proctor

This piece has been reproduced from Bob Proctor’s Six Minutes to Success Program because it was just too good and resonated with me.

No more effort or energy is required in order to aim high in life, to demand abundance and prosperity, than is required to accept misery and poverty. You may even be aware of someone who has experienced a dramatic increase in their income, seeing them go from earning $25K or $30K a year … to $25K or $30K a month! I firmly believe that if you can earn $100,000, you can earn a million. The only difference between the two amounts lies in a person’s level of awareness. If and when quantum leaps of this nature take place, you can be assured that a serious paradigm shift that’s been made.

Paradigms – what are they? Is it a buzzword for the information age? It very well may be a buzzword – but it’s one to be seriously considered. If you’re like most people, paradigms very likely are controlling every move you make. So, what are paradigms and why should we be concerned about how they affect our everyday lives? Well, paradigms are a multitude of habits. In most cases, these habits aren’t even originated by yourself, yet they guide every move you make. Paradigms affect the way you eat, the way you walk, even the way you talk. They govern your communication, your work habits, your successes and even your failures in life. It’s also important to know, that, for the most part, these paradigms are other people’s habits – yet they remain the guiding lights in your life.

In order to replace an old paradigm that doesn’t server you (i.e., “I’ve never been able to make more than $40,000 a year), you must lay a new paradigm over that old one, ensuring that it’s sealed from “leaking through again. When you understand how to lay this floor, so to speak, you will expose yourself to a brand
new world of power, possibility and promise.

Paradigms change you to the core

Organizational culture is founded on habits, work practices, attitudes, beliefs and expectations otherwise known as paradigms. Armed with paradigms, we approach and react to the world around us, interpreting what we see and experience according to our shared understandings and those culturally determined guidelines. A paradigm, in a sense, tells you that there is a game, what the game is, and how to play it successfully. A paradigm shift then, is a change to a new game, or a new set of rules. And when the rules change, your whole world can change.

Ideally, any changes to an organization should be implemented simultaneously with a change in attitude of the members. In other words, the people’s paradigms should be shifted at the same time the organization begins its transformation. It’s unfortunate that most of the organizations in the world are not preparing their
people to make the personal paradigm shifts that are necessary. There are numerous individuals who lack the understanding required to adapt to the changes that are being forced upon them.

Think of how the world has changed. There are hundreds of thousands of people walking the street today who went to school, worked hard, studied long hours, graduated at the top of their class, secured employment with a major blue-chip company and bought into the promise that just about every major corporation offered: “If you give us loyalty, we will give you security.”

Twenty years later, as these loyal and misguided individuals stood proudly near the top of their corporate ladder, shouldering responsibility for big mortgages and small children, the corporate paradigm shifted. The ladder was yanked out from underneath them and they found themselves standing on the street, bruised,
demoralized, unemployed and in a state of total shock.

Now, I know most people would say, “The problem is the corporation’s lack of loyalty” … but this is not the case. A job doesn’t owe you anything. People work at a job or for an employer in a mutual sort of relationship, but that doesn’t mean that one or the other party is utterly responsible for the other party’s livelihood. Ninety-some percent of the population keeps getting the same results—year in,
year out!

This is as true for students in school as it is for the person in business. If there is an improvement in the performance of most people, it’s generally minimal—just a blip on the screen and not enough to make any substantial difference in a person’s life-style.

Is there a problem? An enormous problem! It’s called paradigms.

Paradigms can be likened to a program that has been installed in your brain. But you can change that software! The same infinite power flows to and through each one of us, and if we had been taught to develop our higher faculties in the first place, we would understand how and why all things are possible.

You are going to be delighted to learn that just changing a very small part of the old paradigm can make an enormous difference in the results you can enjoy in every area of your life.

Think of the areas in your life that money affects. Imagine shifting your paradigm there to substantially increase your income before year’s end. If you have difficulty meeting people and you alter the paradigm so that it’s easy and enjoyable to meet people, this could have quite an impact on your life.

These are just two examples of hundreds that could be done in YOUR life. Today!

There will be no permanent change in your life until the paradigm has been changed. Choose one or two limiting ideas that are part of your paradigm and replace them with ideas that represent freedom to you. Consciously keep those new thoughts in your head, and act as if those thoughts are already imbedded in the foundation of your life. Before you know it – you life will begin to change – and dramatically!

Aw shucks, I missed the train! Or did you?

This is a story of two men. They wished to go see the President of their country at their national capital. They lived in a small town which was a 12-hour journey by train.

Having reached the railway station, one of the men asked a stranger, “Which train goes to the Capital?” Instead of replying, the stranger asked, “Why do you want to go to the Capital?”

The man said, “We want to meet the President. It is our dream.” The stranger smiled and said, “What a coincidence! I too have to go see the President. I have been to the Capital earlier and know many people that can help us get to him. Come along!”

Saying so, the stranger indicated to the men to come out of the railway station. Puzzled, the men followed him. He motioned to a car and started to get inside. The men wondered what he was doing. They knew – as everybody knows – that a 12 hour train journey would become a tiring 18-hour journey by road. And it would be most uncomfortable, given the bad state of the highways.

One of the two men asked, “What are you doing? Don’t you know we have to go the Capital? Are you planning to go by road?” The stranger replied, “No, not really, TRUST ME… we don’t have time to lose”. The stranger did not tell them that he would take them by air because the President was leaving the country the same evening and taking the train would defeat the purpose. He didn’t tell them that because he guessed neither of the men had any concept of an airplane, and handling their fears would delay all of them.

Meanwhile, the men had a discussion among themselves. One of them was insistent that they were being misled and decided he would ask another stranger and get along using his own abilities and the ‘right’ help. The other man felt that the stranger seemed to know what he was doing. After all, he too had to meet the President… so there must be something he knew which others did not.

The men parted ways. One took the train, which was running late, and anyway reached the next day. He missed the President but consoled himself that he had traveled on his own strength… and it was his destiny.

The other accompanied the stranger. Along the journey the stranger explained how an airplane ride would mean that a price would have to be paid upfront, and the journey would be one not many people take… but that he was safe and they would fulfill their dream together. And they did!

How do you relate to this story? Are your dreams so important that you can trust a stranger, learn something new and make sure you achieve them? Or do you just dream, but not TRUST, and try to discover things your own way?

To achieve anything big in life (like meeting the President, or becoming one), TRUST is the key. This is a law of the universe. Devotees who attain nirvana trust their spiritual masters. Networkers who own private jets trust their sponsors. Big business owners trust their systems. Estate agents who deal in high value properties trust their contacts (many they have never even met!). And the man who becomes President trusts his counselors… you get the picture!

So who do you trust? And till now where has that got you? Are the people you’re trusting achieving anything similar to your dreams?

Make good choices. It is your future… and here’s how business opportunity seekers lead

5 to-dos to sell anything

You may have heard of Philip Kotler’s famous ‘4Ps of marketing’. But there are only 2Ps in selling.

The first P is ‘Process’; which means, there’s a step by step checklist of the right things to do and anyone can learn these at any age.

And the second is ‘Person’; and that means you need to evolve your own mind to display certain characteristics that are cornerstones of success. All successful people are sales people. Mostly idea sellers… but many have evolved from being product sellers.

So if you can master a Process and become the Person, you can sell anything! And here are 5 simple to-dos for that. The first 3 relate to Process and the last 2 to Person.

1/ Know their need : You can’t make anyone buy what you have. You can only make them spend on what they need. The first process is to know the difference. You may have the world’s best business opportunity. But they might be just looking for some smart people to hang out with… and though you may seem smart, they won’t see your opportunity till you align with them on their societal need. So ask them questions. Limit each question to less than 15 words. Use a lot of “Why” (eg. Why is that important to you? Why does that bother you?). Pause to take deep breath when anxious.

2/ Listen to their objections : Nobody wants to be suckered into anything. So they will like to sound intelligent and ask the routine stuff. Listen to it. Pause. Then ask, “great point… is there anything else?”. Get all their points on the table. See if any is a real objection. Answer it. Otherwise, ask again, “lovely questions, but may I ask you, do you see how you could spend you time with some of the smartest people online and make enough money to overcome these issues?” [Need + Benefit]. The trick of the process is to keep asking the questions. He who asks has control over the conversation.

3/ Siphon out the wimps : As you start asking and listening, you will find some positive alignment. Some ‘yesses’. If they are not forthcoming, you have a procrastinator on hand. Be ok to let them go. Such persons would not qualify for the time of Barack Obama (a great sales person who asks great questions). So why would he qualify for yours? Move to the next person (that’s why generating lots of leads is important). Gently move through ‘yes’ answers to a close. Here ends the sales process and starts the relationship one (a different subject altogether).

4/ Build your self-esteem : Now if you wondered how I could be comparing responses to Mr Obama and to you, on the last point, you’ve understood what it means to evolve into the person deserving of master-seller status. To earn 100,000 dollar/mo you must have the 100,000 dollar/mo attitude and the 100,000 dollar/mo habits. Study those people. Get their DVDs, read their books and copy them. And you start ‘being’ the person. When feeling angry, negative, shy… ask yourself how your role model would respond… and do exactly that.

5/ Build your energy : There is silent power in being physically fit and mentally agile. Watch this 40-minute video of Anthony Robbins with 2 of the world’s best Internet Marketers on this subject. Know that you are never asking for money… you are always asking for a decision / commitment / to see if they are the right person. Mold your tone and quality of questions to determine this. Listen for their responses. Understand their pain. Don’t over-promise and under-deliver. And money will flow.

    How to use Internet Marketing to build any business

    No matter what business in you’re in, you can put the Internet to use for you and use it to help you build your business and rake in more sales.

    The statistics on how many people are online now are mind-blowing. As of November of last year, there are over One Billion people online. This gives all of us an incredible opportunity to grow our businesses – to global proportions, if that’s what we want.

    However, the Internet is not without pitfalls and obstacles. In fact, if you make the wrong move, you can find yourself in very real danger of losing everything you’ve worked so hard to build.

    Here are some things to keep in mind when it comes to using the Internet to market your business:

    Create a professional Web presence . These days with all the readily available Website templates, blogs and highly affordable Website designers who can be hired to design a custom Website, there just isn’t any excuse for amateurish or poorly built Websites these days. Even when you add the cost of Internet access, hosting , buying the right domain name and the cost of having a Website built, starting an online business is affordable to almost anyone – and so even if you run your business from your home, it doesn’t have to look that way!

    Make sure that you do research on customers . Find a hungry market that is already buying in your chosen niche. Choose a product that your target market wants to buy – the best way to do this is to choose a product or service that meets a need, takes away a pain or solves a problem. Competition is good – but make sure you choose something where you’ve got a good chance of getting close to the top.

    Plan how to generate leads . Even if your business is completely online, a strong list is your roadmap that helps guide you from zero to millionaire. List aren’t just for people who are looking at direct sales or affiliate marketing. Anything that involves networking and reaching out on the Internet rests on a list. Be flexible to invest as needed on this – but do not buy third party lists. They are stale. Generate your own.

    Use autoresponder software to build a relationship on auto-pilot. By writing your messages in pre-built autoresponders, you can stay in touch with your entire list over email.     Keep your goal to be among the best marketers online . Do you know where you want to end up? What are you going into business for? To make a little extra money? To build a business that you can later sell and live on the proceeds? Whatever your reason for going into business for yourself, decide what your ultimate goal is. That way you’ll be able to direct your actions towards achieving it. Choose the company of people who can guide you to bigger goals. Grow!

    Take action. Once you know your long-term plan for your business, it’s easier to chunk it down and create shorter, medium and long term goals that will help you to achieve them. Write down your plan for marketing on the Internet and make sure that you take at least one or two actions towards those goals every single day, Search for resources on this site and write to me if you want something you don’t find.

    Test, test, test . Whatever you’re doing – whether it’s banner advertising, using a newsletter, trying a Google AdWords campaign – or any other form of Internet marketing or advertising – keep testing your results. (But here’s a hint – when it comes to your copy, don’t waste your time on unimportant elements – only test the ones that are going to give you the biggest return on your investment.)
